The Love Story of Ruby and Harold - 60 Years of Marriage

It seems like every time I turn around I see photos of young couples madly in love. Women in adorable sun dresses with fresh skin and bright smiles. Young men with broad shoulders, tight stomachs, and designer jeans ready to carry their brides off into the sunset or at least as far as Starbucks.

I say to myself, I wish Michael and I would have taken some photos like that back in the day...

But today I got a glimpse of an entirely different photo shoot. The love story of Ruby and Harold has been captured by the lens of a talented photographer. Megan Vaughan not only witnessed their love from behind the camera, she knew that this kind of love will bring hope to young couples.

Megan writes, "Before this picture, I asked if they were comfortable with kissing on the lips. Ruby goes, “Oh sure! We still do that all the time!”

When we were walking over to the bench, Ruby was behind Harold and he turned around and said, "Come on hunny, you have to get over here and kiss me!”

With Megan's permission, I introduce you to Ruby and Harold... 5 children, 7 grandchildren, and 11 great-grand children… all because two people fell in love 60 years ago.

Please click over to Megan's blog to see the entire photo shoot and to read more about this adorable couple!

  1. Simply beautiful - there is nothing more beautiful than a husband and wife reading scripture and praying together...

  2. I love meeting and talking with couples who have been married over 50 years (recently had the pleasure of being with a couple who made it to the 70th anniversary mark. The love, the patience, and genuine happiness is infectious and encouraging. We need to aspire to be the examples for the generation coming up behind us. I will celebrate 23 years of marriage later this year.
